We like the environmentally friendly aspects of sailing, and it’s important that we don’t contribute to the pollution already in the ocean. Therefore, part of our preparation has been finding environmentally friendly options for as much as possible of our regular cleaning needs. That means soaps and detergents without plastics, and using baking soda and vinegar instead of solvents for the interior cleaning. For our new laundry machine, we will be using laundry sheets which not only are made without plastic, but also weigh less than traditional detergents and don’t include any plastic packaging. I will still put them in one big zip-lock bag because we are on a boat and there is water everywhere, but the little box of sheets will handle 360 loads of laundry! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
