We are in the final weeks of an evening class to learn about Medium and High Frequency radio. Both of us have licenses for Very High Frequency (VHF) radio, and our boat has a VHF. However, we are getting our MF/HF license as well as an extra precaution before bluewater sailing. The main thing is to learn how to use the frequencies, the basic use of the radio is the same if you are talking on a VHF or a MF/HF. I never would have thought I would be taking a class in using a radio, but if you want to sail a boat on the open seas, a little extra knowledge can be worth a lot. Since there will be a bit of overlap before the new owner of Ocean Queen gets their own MMSI and call sign, we will be getting a new MMSI and call sign for Lulu.
